I am recieving errors when I try to send and recieve email with outlook/outlook express, what is the cause?
When you try to send and receive e-mail, you may receive one of the following error messages:
The server could not be found. (Account:account name, POPserver:'mail', Error Number: 0x800ccc0d)
Task 'server name - Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x800ccc0f): 'The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server responded: ? K'
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account. account name, Server: 'server name', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '+OK', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): N0, Error Number: 0x800ccc0f
Task 'SMTP server name - Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x80042109): 'Outlook is unable to connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).
The error code "0x800CCC0F" generally indicates the following, that either the modem was disconnected, or network cable was disconnected. If this happens alot, there may be noise on the phone line, you may need updated modem drivers, or an init string.
If you're on a high speed connection, there could be noise in the line as well. Has your ISP had routing troubles in recent days? or perhaps, connectivity issues.
Have you verified that your mail settings are correct?
They should look as follows:
If you have your own domain name:
smtp server: yourdomain.com or your ISPs server info. It's not uncommon for an ISP to require their customers to use the information they provide for outgoing mail servers.
pop3/imap server: yourdomain.com
pop3 username: email@example.com (if you have created your own email account in your cpanel) or your cpanel username (does not require the @yourdomain.com)
smtp username: same as your pop3 username. (if you're using our smtp servers)
Please note that smtp authentication must be used on our servers. Tick "my server requires authentication" in servers.
If your email client has problems using the @ symbol for the username then you can use :, + or % sign instead.
You can also attempt to recreate these accounts in your mail program. Sometimes this can resolve the issue.
