| Flash Video (.flv) Playback on page |
|---|
|
First off, .flv is the extension for Flash Videos. This should not be confused with Flash Animations, which end in .swf. FLV files are a different type of video format, similar to Quicktime, Matroska, MPEG, .avi etc.
In Quicksite, edit the page you want the video to appear. To get the .flv file onto the Quicksite server, edit the page, and click on the link button. Click on upload, then browse to find the file on your computer and upload it. It will return to the link tab, just leave everything as is and click OK, as you will need this link shortly. (Or you can just Browse Server if the .flv is already uploaded.) Next go to this web site:
This is a free media player that supports playback of .flv files. From Quicksite, copy the link location of your .flv file and enter it into the box for URL. Note the buttons above this section, you can use them to change the size of the video window, color of the player, and many other options. Next click the ‘make player’ button. On the next page will be several lines of HTML code. Copy the code, go back to Quicksite, and click the Source button to edit the pure HTML. Find where you want the video to appear on your page and then paste. It may be misleading, because when you click Source to go back to WYSIWYG editing you will not see anything, but when you preview or publish the page it will then appear on the site. |
